About Us

Our mission

At the Papua New Guinea (PNG) Labour Mobility Unit (LMU), our mission is to enhance opportunities for Papua New Guineans to participate in global labour markets while ensuring that their rights and well-being are upheld. We aim to create pathways for sustainable employment abroad that benefit both our workforce and the international community.

Who we are

We are a team of dedicated professionals, committed to improving the lives of Papua New Guineans through strategic labour mobility partnerships, effective program management, and comprehensive support services.

We are an independent unit within the PNG Department of Treasury, part of the Minister’s Office. We coordinate PNG’s participation in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme and New Zealand’s Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme. We are responsible for all recruitments, pre-mobilisation checks and support for the overseas deployment of PNG labour mobility workers.

Ongoing support: We offer continuous support to our workers throughout the recruitment and mobilisation process and when workers are abroad, addressing any issues that may arise and ensuring a smooth transition and successful experience.
